A.& J. Bool, St. Bartholomew the Great

St. Bartholomew the Great, ca.1877

From: A.& J. Bool

RA Collection: Art

Cloth Fair was a crowded area of Elizabethan or Jacobean wooden houses with overhanging stories and tiny squalid courts. Around 1915, concerns for public health resulted in the demolition of the houses which backed onto the churchyard of St. Bartholomew-the-Great.
