According to F.G. Stephens, Cousins was photographed in his sitting room. This would have been his residence at 24, Camden Square, his address until he died in 1887. Hanging on the walls behind him are his engravings of 'The Calling of Samuel' by James Sant R.A.; 'Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI in the Prison of the Temple' by E.M. Ward R.A. and 'A Mother and Child' by C.R. Leslie R.A.
