Sir George Clausen RA (1852 - 1944)
RA Collection: Art
A drawing of Clausen's eldest grandchild, Peter who was born in 1915. He was the son of the artist's eldest child, Arthur George Clausen and Elizabeth Kent. This is the more detailed of two studies of Peter made on the same day, although 04/2872 was presumably executed after 04/2871. Another portait of Peter dated 1931 is in the RA Collection (04/2873).
Portraits of Peter's younger brother, John (born 1921) and his cousin Jane (born 1924) were exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1934 (see The Royal Academy Illustrated, London, 1934, p. 88).
