Joseph Parkin Mayall, Marcus Stone R.A.

Marcus Stone R.A., ca.1884

From: Joseph Parkin Mayall

RA Collection: Art

Possibly the house described in The Modern School of Art. Marcus Stone was one of the Melbury Road group of artists. He occupied a house at No.8, which was designed by Richard Norman Shaw. A 'very original, tall-windowed, red-brick house... He has to the north an excellent studio, and every room in the house is fit background for one of his own pictures.'
