This cast is made from a bronze head found at Olympia in 1880, now in the National Museum, Athens. It is widely believed to portray the boxer Satyros who triumphed in Olympia after 338 BC. Originally the bronze head dating from about 335-330 BCwould have been attached to a figure and have had eyes of semi-precious stones.
