Sir George Clausen RA, Hay ricks in a landscape with pollarded willow tree

Hay ricks in a landscape with pollarded willow tree, probably 1920s/30s

Sir George Clausen RA (1852 - 1944)

RA Collection: Art

A pollarded willow tree occupies a prominent position in this landscape study. Hay ricks can be seen behind the tree and a partial view of a thatched cottage to the right. This study was most likely made on one of Clausen's frequent cycling trips around the Essex countryside in the early years of the twentieth century.
