Gallery III, 'Exhibition of Works by the Late Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema R.A., O.M.', 1913. On the far wall, extreme left, is 'A Sculptor's Model', 1877. Alma-Tadema was influenced in painting this work by the discovery in 1874 of the Esquiline Venus, the figure of the sculptor's model is an attempt to reconstruct this statue. Left to right from 'A Sculptor's Model' can be seen 'Hide and Seek', 1876, 'A Summer Offering', 1911, 'Goldfish', 1900, 'Portrait of Max Waechter', 1901, 'The Finding of Moses', 1904, Portrait of John Whichcord, Esq., 1882, 'When Flowers Return', 1911, 'Entering the Coliseum', 1911, 'Young Affections', 1882 and 'Preparations: In the Coliseum', 1912.
