Claes Jansz Visscher, A Family saying Grace

A Family saying Grace, 1609

Claes Jansz Visscher

RA Collection: Art

This extremely rare etching reveals in extraordinary detail the domestic arrangements of a wealthy Dutch family in the first decade of the 17th century. It is one of a sizeable group of Dutch and Flemish prints previously unrecorded in the Academy's collection. This group includes several of the finest Northern School etchings and engravings of the period.
