Plate 15 is unsigned; all other plates and decorations are signed as drawn by I.D. Campiglia. Some are also signed as engraved by him, but most are signed by other engravers: C.B. Gregori, B. Gabbuggiani, V. Franceschini, I.P. Masini, S. Pomarede, I.B. Iacobonus and M.A. Corsi.

The series statement carries a dedication to Gian Gastone, Grand Duke of Tuscany.

Summary Note

In the Preface Gori states that this is the second volume of the series, 'Museum Florentinum'. It continues his catalogue of ancient gems kept in Florentine collections; of which the first volume appeared in 1731.

The 'Index Gemmarum' groups them as, 1. inscribed; 2. Homeric; 3. Roman historical; 4. astronomic and symbolic.

Binding Note

18th-century diced calf; gilt-decorated spine; spine lettered 'Museum Florentinu Tom I'. (This numbering is incorrect; the first volume of the series, 'Museum Florentinum', appeared in 1731.)
