The statue of
Lord Byron originated with
J.C. Hobhouse and the commission was entrusted to
Thorvaldsen, The statue was well composed, though not highly finished, the head was suggested from a bust by Bertolini.
In another hand, possibly that of George Byron, Westmacott corrects himself, saying that the head was modelled on a Thorvaldsen bust of Byron.
