A London newspaper, founded in 1872. The paper was purchased by Edward Lloyd in 1876 and by 1914 had the largest circulation in Britain. The newspaper supported the Liberal Party until 1918, when it turned critical of David Lloyd George. Arthur Conan Doyle was among the newspaper's writers.

In 1930 The Daily Chronicle merged with The Daily News to form the News Chronicle.
