Hills & Saunders

RA Collection: People and Organisations

In operation as early as 1868 and continuing to the present day, Hills and Saunders carte backs refer to branches in Eton, Harrow, Oxford and Cambridge. A day book recording their customer's names and the negative numbers survives with some 30,000 entries. This is now in the archives of Harrow School. Pritchard lists three London addresses:

1869 48 Porchester Terrace, Bayswater W.

1870-1887 36 Porchester Terrac, Bayswater W.

1894-1896 47 Sloane Street W.

According the "Photographic News" 7 May 1880, there were also branches at Aldershot, Sandhurst and Cambridge.
