William Ride (1722/23 - 1778)

Surveyor in London, who was probably born in Haslemere. He was employed by several noblemen, including the Duke of Richmond at Goodwood, where he became surveyor to the estate. He also studied the antiquities of Chichester and he probably restored the Market Cross there. Probably designed St Pancras Church, Chichester, (1749-50). [Source: http://sussexparishchurches.org/)
