Painter and printmaker. Apprenticed to H. Meyer, worked for 4 years for W. T. Fry. Spent 1822-26 in St. Petersburg engraving his brother-in-law George Dawe’s portraits of the Russian Royal family and generals. Spent a further 15 years in Russia from 1830. Died in London.
