Thomas Leverton Donaldson (1795 - 1885)

Architect, writer on architecture, in Britain. Entered Royal Academy Schools (1815), studied under Soane, won the silver medal (1817); practised in London. Founder-member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (1834) and its President 1863-4. First Professor of Architecture at University College, London (1842). Wrote extensively, especially on ancient Greek and Roman architecture.
