Sir Spencer Ponsonby-Fane (1824 - 1915)

Cricketer and civil servant. He played for both Middlesex and Surrey and later administered Somerset and Harrow Cricket Club. He was one of the founders of I Zingari in 1845. Ponsonby worked for the British Foreign Office, was Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain’s Office, Private Secretary to Lord Palmerston, the Earl of Clarendon and Earl Granville, Gentleman Usher to the Sword of State and transported the peace treaty for the Crimean War to Paris.
