Portrait painter. René Arthur Le Brun was born Rene Arther Breun, the fifth son of John Needham Breun a printseller in London. (Some sources suggest that his father was the 6th Duc de Vitry). His younger brother John Ernest Breun (1862-1921) was also a portrait painter.
He studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 28 July 1896 to July 1901.
