James Robertson (b.1985 London, England) studied BA at The Slade School of Fine Art.
Robertson’s practice is multi-disciplinary with a focus on the use of appropriation. His work is an acknowledgment of the roles played by context and interpretation in every aspect of our social environment, attempting to reconfigure this understanding as a material and put it in motion.
Recent work has focused on an exploration of the political rhetoric around contemporary cultural clashes. The work itself deliberately evades a singular ideological standpoint, instead incorporating multiple voices and contradictory positions.
