Engraver, illustrator, and bookseller. Studied in Worcester; active in London. Director of the Society of Artists (1772-3); last Secretary of the Society of Artists (1775 - c. 1783). Bought business of booksellers/publishers A. and H. Webley (1770), and renamed it The Architectural Library (1787). Brother of engraver James Taylor (1737/8-1790); father of Charles Taylor (1756-1823), Isaac Taylor (1759-1829), bookseller Josiah Taylor (1761-1834).
