Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498)

Friar, preacher, writer, reformer. In 1475 he became a Dominican preacher at Bologna; in 1490 he moved to Florence, where he preached against wordliness in society , the Church and artistic productions. He was excommunicated by Pope Alexander VI in 1497, and burnt to death in 1498.
