Landowner, politician, in Britain. In 1762 he bought Zanetti’s gem collection; between 1764 and 1774 commissioned ‘Capability’ Brown to re-design Blenheim park. Son of Charles Spencer, 3rd Duke of Marlborough (1706-58); brother of artist Lady Diana Beauclerk (1734-1808); father of George Spencer-Churchill, 5th Duke of Marlborough (1766-1840).
