Francisca Pinto (b.1995, Portugal) graduated from The Royal Drawing School in December 2019. Previously she studied Fine Art at Faculty of Fines Arts of the University of Lisbon, from 2013 to 2017.
Francisca is a draughtsman and a painter who creates images that are about relationships and a search for connection between the interior and exterior world, usually in response to feelings or situations. Although the imagery is based often in her own experiences, and there is a sense of story present in what she depicts, she doesn’t aim to create narratives. Instead, she is more interested in exploring how emotions can be transmitted through images, and how these can affect the viewer.
In her most recent work Francisca has been exploring notions of choice, change and unearthing. She has been questioning the representation of time in a still image, how to create tensions in the pictorial space between planes and shapes, and the duality between figuration and abstraction.
