Scholar, art historian; museum director. Cataloguer of the Museo Pio-Clementino, Rome, and of the ‘Musée Napoléon’ (Louvre), Paris. Son of Giambattista Visconti (1722-84); brother of Filippo Aurelio Visconti (1754-1851) and Alessandro Visconti (1757-1853); uncle of Pietro Ercole Visconti (1802-80).
