Charles Winter (1824 - 1904)

Active in Strasbourg, France, he had been a lithographer before turning to photography. Beginning in the 1850s, his career spanned several decades. During this time, Winter made daguerreotypes, albumen prints, and cartes-de-visite. His subjects included Swiss mountaineering scenes and topography as well as portraits.
