Provenance

The front pastedown carries the 19th-century armorial book-plate of 'JJF', incorporating the motto, 'Cordi Dat Animus Alas'. The verso of the front free-endpaper is inscribed in ink, 'S.A.H.', i.e. S.A. Hart, librarian of the Royal Academy 1864-81. Purchased for RA Library in 1879 (see RA Annual Report for 1879, p. 47).
