Volume II has 'Tomo Secondo' in place of 'Tomo Primo', but the third volume carries no volume number. The imprint of Vols. II, III, reads 'Per Francesco, e Cristoforo Ricciardi, Stampatori del Real Palazzo.' The text unfolds the history of art in Naples from prehistoric times to Dominici's own contemporaries. For the earlier period, and even for the seventeenth century, the work is unreliable, but it is indispensable for the study of the arts in Naples in the eighteenth century. The third volume contains a long account of Francesco Solimena. |
