Summary Note

The publication-date of 1746 is given on the title-page, but the plate at p. 109 carries the date 1747. The work was originally published in 1553. The frontispiece is a portrait of Michelangelo; pl. [1] (p.65) shows his tomb at Florence; pl. [2] (p.95), his nephew; pl. [3] (p.109), a sculpture by Michelangelo.
