Summary Note

The text is a collection of lectures delivered to the Académie Royale by several speakers, compiled by by F. Bernard Lépicié, who had become historiographe to the Académie in 1737. (The Académie afterwards became incorporated into the Institut de France.) The first volume contains the biographies of Charles Le Brun by Desportes and of Pierre Mignard by 'M. le C. de C**' (both with responses by Coypel). The second volume contains the biographies of Antoine Coypel by Charles Coypel, of Louis de Boullogne by Watelet and of François le Moyne by 'M. le C. de C**' (all with responses by Coypel), and a description of Pellegrini's paintings in the Banque Royale.
