Responsibility Note

Several plates are signed as drawn and engraved by A. Perelle (occasionally AD Perelle); two are signed as made by Aveline (105, 106).

Almost all carry the imprint of the printer, N. de Poilly (sometimes as at the sign of the 'Belle Image', which he began to use some time after 1662); four carry that of N. Langlois (pl. [22, 69, 81, 104]).

Several plates shows signs of erasures of earlier signatures.

Copy Note

The plates are numbered by hand, 21-119 (following the plates of Veues des Maisons Royale de Paris, with which these are bound, and which are numbered 1-20). The last leaf of the book carries a hand-written list of all these plates, with their subjects described in English.

Binding Note

18th-century calf, upper and lower covers having rectangular decorative panel; rebacked in 19th century, spine lettered 'R.A.', red morocco spine-label lettered 'Veues Des Maisons Royales De Paris'. Bound with 'Veues des Maisons Royale de Paris'.
