Summary Note

The text describes the four-day celebrations in Venice marking the birth of the Dauphin of France, the future king Louis XIV. These included a regatta, a banquet, bull-fighting, balletti, fireworks and a thanksgiving mass for which music was commissioned by the French ambassador Hamelot de la Houssaye from the composer Giovanni Rovetta.
