A French title is given on the printed label pasted to the upper cover of the box in which the loose leaves are housed: 'Contours Pour Servir A L'Histoire De L'Art Chretien De 1200 à 1600, Faits En Italie, calqués sur les peintures des anciens Maîtres, avec le Texte explicatif de l'éditeur J.A. Ramboux, Conservateur du Musée de Cologne.' No publication-date is given. The work appeared serially: the descriptive text lists 300 plates in sixty 'cahiers', and the 'Annonce' states that 'ouvrages suivantes qui vont paraître successivement, peuvent en partie servir à compléter cette serie ... paraîteront par cahier ...'. The text is printed in German and French in parallel columns.
