The initials 'R.F. S.D.C.' on the title-page stand for Roland Freart, Sieur De Chambray.

In dedicating the work to Poussin Freart thanks him for the part which he has played in illustrating it.

No illustration is signed. The added engraved title-plate has the same design as that used for Langlois' publication of the Italian text in the same year, apart from having the title in French rather than Italian; and in the Italian edition the plate is signed as engraved by R. Lochon.
