The frontispiece is an engraved portrait of Urry by Nicolas Pigné. The life of Chaucer was originally written by John Dart, but was revised and altered by William Thomas and is preceded by an engraved portrait of Chaucer by George Vertue. Following the text, mostly printed in double columns, is 'A Glossary Explaining the Obsolete and difficult Words in Chaucer', which is followed by an unnumbered page of errata. There is a title-page engraved vignette as well as engraved and woodcut head- and tailpieces; woodcut initials.
