500 # # $a The leaves of plates carrying two (or more) plate numbers show two (or more) inages. Most such images have been cut and pasted in, but may not originally have been printed from separate coppers. Most such pairs carry only one signature; and the leaf carrying images '1' and '1' has a shared caption-heading. In the second sequence of plates the last last leaf, showing six images, appears to be printed from four coppers. In the second sequence (on the Tavy) there is no plate numbered '1', but the second image numbered '1' on the first leaf of plates relating to the Tamar shows the source of the Tavy and belongs to this second sequence. The total number of images present amounts to 47, as called-for by the title-page.

In some copies (including that of the Royal Academy) a printed slip has been tipped in on the title-page, reading, '... The Price of the Work is unavoidably raised from £2 fs to £2 10s on account of the Plates requiring to be printed on India Paper. The next Volume will complete the Devonshire Rivers, in the most interesting Scenery of the Rivers Exe, Teign, Barle, the two Okements, and Torridgem &c., at the same Price. F.C.L.' A slip has also been tipped in facing prints numbered '23, 24' in the first sequence, showing elevations of the river.
