Summary Note

An anonymous critique of the constitution of the Royal Academy of Arts, the management of its annual [summer] exhibition and the teaching in its Schools. 'In order that artists may appreciate the position they occupy towards the Academy, we have prepared an analysis of evidence taken before the [1863] Royal Commission.' (p.9). See also The Royal Academy and the Hanging Committee issued by the same publisher the previous year, probably for the same author (or 'authors').
