The title-page of the work is printed in black and red. The work includes a Preface by the author, Contents, list of plates, list of original subscribers, discussion of organs and their history, illustrations and descriptions of historic organs and an index. The work has been bound in some places not as described in the Contents or in the List of plates. This work was followed by a second series published in 1891 (see 13/2521). The work was printed by the Chiswick Press.

Binding Note

Bound in a blue cloth with gilt lettering and ornaments; the spine is lettered, 'Organ Cases and Organs of the Middle Ages and Renaissance' and 'Hill'.
