General Note

The work comprises a series of engravings with lists of the engravings and descriptive letterpress. Both volumes have engraved title-pages, with ornamental borders. The frontispiece, in volume I, is an engraving of 'The New National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London. Engraved by W. Wallis, from a drawing by Thos. H. Shepherd, Esqre. for Jones' Series of engravings from the pictures in the Gallery.' Volume I has [124] pages, 59 leaves of plates, including the frontispiece; and volume II has [118] pages, 56 leaves of plates. In this copy of vol. II the engravings for prints number 90 and 99 with their relevant letterpress have been bound in each others place.

Binding Note

Quarter bound in green leather on green cloth-covered boards; spine lettered in gilt on red leather labels, 'National / Picture / Gallery / - / I [II].'
