Summary Note

A title variant appears on the half-title: 'The Museo Del Prado'. No publication-date is given on the title-page, but the publication-date of 1897 is carried by all plates, apart from pl. 38, which is undated. The List Of Pictures states that 'The pictures are numbered in chronological order'; but in the List they appear in alphabetic order of painter. None is captioned, but each is briefly described in the List. They include works by Coello (2 pl.), Correggio, Dürer (4 pl.), Van Dyck (3), Goya, El Greco, Jordaens, Memling, Moro (3), Murillo (12), Poussin, Raphael (8), Rembrandt, Ribera, Rubens (8), Tintoretto, Titian (20), Velasquez (37), Veronese (2), Van Der Weyden and Zurbaran.

Binding Note

The plates are loose within a leather-bound portfolio with protective flaps. 19th-century red morocco, upper cover gilt-stamped with arms of Spain within a gilt border.
