The title-page calls for 84 pl., and the 'List Of Pictures' also lists [84] plates, but there is an additional Rembrandt plate after the 23 listed. The 'List' does not assign numbers to the plates, but records the number assigned to each 'in the official catalogue of the Hermitage'. These numbers are printed at the foot of most of the plates also.

Summary Note

No publication date is given in the letter-press or on the plates; a reference to acquisitions made in 1886 by Emperor Alexander III occurs in the introductory essay on 'The Hermitage Gallery'.

Potter (2), Raphael (5), Rembrandt (24), Ribera, Rubens (9), Ruysdael (4), J. Steen (2), G. Terburg, Titian (3), Velasquez, Leonardo da Vinci (2) and Watteau (2).

Copy Note

Each plate has been numbered in pencil (1-85), and the title page has been inscribed with the date '[1896]', in pencil, in an unknown hand.
