Summary Note
The Commemoration Of Reynolds is followed by three other poems by Shee: The Shade Of Nelson, Lines Written On The Death Of The Late John Opie, Esq. R.A. and Ellen.
The frontispiece shows a portrait drawing of Shee; the unnumbered plate shows Reynolds's painting of Mrs Siddons as the Tragic Muse. The two in-text illustrations show a portrait of Reynolds and a portrait of the Prince Regent.
Provenance
The front pastedown carries the armorial bookplate of William Hay. Purchased for the RA Library in 1924 (see RA Annual Report for 1924, p. 39).
Copy Note
The front loose endpaper carries a note in pencil, 'Authors signature & extra plates'. The last page of the dedication has another copy pasted over, carrying the signature of 'Martin Archer Shee Cavendish Square April 1814'.
