This is Vol. 1 of the 4th series. The image on the lithographed title-page is signed 'Drawn by C. E. Mallows 1892'. The lithographed sheets in this portfolio were printed by Sprague & Co. Ltd, 4 & 5 East Harding Street, Fetter Lane, E.C. and C. F. Kell & Son, Photo-Lith, 2 & 3, Tothill Street, Westminster, S.W. The list of plates indicates there should be 73 plates in this portfolio; however, this set lacks numbers 17 and 66.

The portfolio is in brown cloth-covered boards printed with black lettering and devices on the front board reading 'Architectural Association Sketch Book - 1909' and on the spine, lettered in black, 'Architectural · Association · Sketch · Book · 1909'.
