Summary Note
The first paragraph of the pamphlet states that the: `The object of the Gentlemen who have formed this Club is to associate at stated times for the purpose of promoting a reciprocal communication of facts and opinions on Antient Architecture, the Fine Arts, and the Literature connected with those subjects. They are convinced that a very social and scientific company may be thus selected and held together in bonds of friendly and liberal union: and that an extended and unreserved intercourse may be established between Professional Men, Amateurs, and Literati.’ (p. In addition to providing a forum for communication its other stated aim was the establishment of 'a national "Society Of Architects And Antiquaries;" an Institution equally necessary for the improvement of English Architecture, and for the dissemination of correct principles and opinions on every subject connected with this important branch of the Fine Arts' (pp. [3]--4).
