In addition to providing a forum for communication its other stated aim was the establishment of 'a national "Society Of Architects And Antiquaries;" an Institution equally necessary for the improvement of English Architecture, and for the dissemination of correct principles and opinions on every subject connected with this important branch of the Fine Arts' (pp. [3]--4).
