Summary Note

The text and plates describe Napoleon's campaigns under the French Directory in Italy in 1796-7 and Egypt in 1798, his victory as First Consul over the Austrians at Marengo in 1800, his coronation as Emperor in 1804, and his campaigns as Emperor of France against Germans, Austrians and Russians, culminating in his victory at Austerlitz in 1805 and the treaty of Pressburg in the same year.

The plates show: frontispiece portrait of Napoleon I on horseback; double-plate map of Italy; 23 battles &c. in Italy; the battle of Aboukir, Egypt; the battle of Austerlitz (double plate).
