Summary Note
The publication-dates carried by the seven title-pages are 1839, 1840, 1841, 1843, 1845, 1846 and 1847.
This history of Italian art was adversely criticised by P. Selvatico for neglecting art in Italy of the early Christian, Romanesque and Gothic periods.
The plates are all outline drawings of paintings. They are uncaptioned, but descriptions of them, with the names of the source-artists, are given in the Indicazioni Dei Rami.
