General Note

The List Of Plates calls for 36 plates - i.e. 25 plates (incl. added engraved title plate) and 11 in-text prints. But there are bis copies of all 25 plates (showing them in their earlier, etched states), and a further 11 plates which are bis copies of the in-text prints (showing them also in etched states) - making a total of 61 plates and 11 in-text prints.

Responsibility Note

All engraved plates and all but one engraved in-text prints are signed as drawn or painted by James Stark, and as engraved by E. Goodall, William Miller, George Cooke, John Burnet, Charles Fox, J. Horsburgh, J.F. Lambert, W. Forrest, R. Brandard, W.R. Smith, James H. Kernot, W.J. Cooke, R. Cooper, W. Radclyffe, Robt. Wallis or J.C. Varrall. Most of them in their etched state are signed as drawn or painted by James Stark, and as etched by the same persons whose signatures appear on the engraved states.

Plate [27] is also signed as printed by S.H. Hawkins.

The work is dedicated by James Stark to King William IV.

Summary Note

The work was issued in parts from 1827. Several of the prints carry dates - of 1828, 1829, 1831 or 1833. The dedication carries the date of December 12th, 1833.
