Summary Note

The text consists of correspondence between Richard Bentley and J.G. Graevius (historiographer to King William III of Great Britain) and other scholars, on textual criticism of Greek and Latin texts. Most of the letters are in Latin, but some are in English; several include quotations in Greek letter.

The four plates consist of: [1] a portrait of Richard Bentley; [2] a portrait of J.G. Graevius; [3] a transcript of a letter from Graevius to Bentley (that printed here as Epistola XXI); [4] a transcript of a letter from Bentley to Graevius (that printed here as Epistola XLI).
