Summary Note

The title of the second volume differs from that of the first only in having 'Italy, Spain and Portugal' in place of 'Italy and Spain', and in having a quotation from Virgil in place of one from Lucretius.

In the first volume Breval describes his travels in Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and western France; in the second, his travels in Savoy, Switzerland, Austria, southern Germany, northern Italy and Rome, Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar.

In 1738 Breval published a sequel entitled Remarks On Several Parts of Europe, Relating Chiefly to Their Antiquities and History. Collected upon the Spot In several Tours since the Year 1723.
