But in Volume II plates 108, 109, 111 (maps) are signed as engraved or drawn by Delahaye l'Ainé; in Vol. III pl. 28-30 are signed as drawn and engraved by Vassé, pl. 51 as by 'Poussin', pl. 73 as drawn and engraved by Le Fevre; in Vol. IV pl. 106 is signed as written by P.L. Charpentier and pl. 115, 116, 124 (maps) as engraved by P.P. Choffard; in Vol. V pl. 26 is signed as engraved by P.L. Charpentier; in Vol. VI pl. 112 is signed illegibly, pl. 125 as 'Barabe reduc. [illegible] sculp.', and pl. 126, 127 as engraved by P.P. Choffard; in Vol. VII the frontispiece portrait of Caylus is signed as drawn and engraved by Littret 1766, plates 39, 41, 42 as drawn by Franc. The author is not named on the title pages, but the dedication in Volume I is from Caylus.

This Recueil was one of the studies of antiquity most widely read in the eighteenth century.

The plates in each volume show Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek, Roman and Gallo-Roman antiquities. Most show small sculptures, but some show vases, mosaics, lamps, inscriptions or architectural constructions. A few are maps.
