The plates show twenty heraldic escutcheons by Bernini, six by Borromini, three each by Michelangelo and Algardi, two each by C. Fontana, F. Fontana and Rainaldi, and one each by Bramante, D. Fontana, Cortona, M. Rossi, 'N.N.', B. Soria, C. Maratti, M. Lunghi, F. Della Grega, A. Rossi and R. Cacapecchia. The last is 'Dell'Autore di questa Raccolta'. Most escutcheons are described as made of marble or stone, but some as of gilded metal or stucco. All are from buildings in Rome, except one from Castelgandolfo and the last, which is from Messina, the author's home. The first unnumbered plate is a schematic presentation of the 'Proporzioni Pratiche Per ben disegnare le Targhe ...'.
